JUANDRES VERA

MEXICO 1980

Juandres Vera is an international urban visual artist recognized as one of the leading figures in anamorphic 3D art and 3D wall painting. His work combines technical realism with symbolic narratives that explore tensions between religion, power, economy, nature, and memory.

Self-taught in drawing from childhood, he studied Visual Arts with a specialization in Audiovisual Arts at UANL (Monterrey). His first series were inspired by urban transportation, philosophy, and religion, already revealing his interest in the everyday as a metaphor for the historical.

Throughout his career, he has painted on walls, pavements, and unconventional supports such as anti-slip vinyl or concrete panels. These surfaces become part of his discourse, reinforcing the idea of urban art that dialogues with space and the public. His works transform simple objects —an egg, a banknote, a paper boat, a broken wall— into symbols of universal meaning: migration, fragility, rebirth, or corruption.

With an international trajectory across more than twenty countries, he has participated in festivals and exhibitions in Mexico, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Dubai, and the United States, among others. In 2013, he directed in the Netherlands a 140-meter anamorphic painting that earned a Guinness World Record.

In his recent projects, Vera intertwines the personal and the collective: the memory of exile, the experience of losing a loved one and the birth of another, and the constant tension between nature and the city. His Road to Nowhere series imagines a world where nature slowly reclaims the urban, while works such as Memoria Viva or The Shipment portray the mural as a space where the ephemeral and the monumental meet.

For Juandrés Vera, painting is a mirror of contradictions: an art that provokes reflection and contemplation, born from vital chaos and organized into images charged with meaning.
